A video cassette is a form of media that was used to record and replay audio and video on magnetic tape, through a device known as a video cassette recorder (or VCR). It was the dominant form of video storage media that was used for entertainment purposes until it was replaced by the DVD.
In early printings of Left Behind, Vernon Billings' video message for those who were left behind was recorded and released on video cassette, which Rayford Steele obtained a copy of until it was stolen by a thief who broke into his house to steal valuables, taking the VCR that the tape was still in. In the Dramatic Audio version of Assassins, Nicolae Carpathia was adamant on not having the resurrection of Eli and Moishe be recorded on video tape to remind people of Scriptural prophecy being fulfilled.
