Rape is an intimate form of assault on a person that is considered a violation of proper interpersonal contact between people of any age or gender. In the real world as well as in the Bible, most forms of rape are sexual in nature.

Rape has occurred at least a few times in the Bible. In the book of Genesis, Shechem forced himself upon Jacob's daughter Dinah, then he tried to bargain with Jacob's family to have her be given to him as a wife, which resulted in him and the men of his hometown being killed after circumcision and his hometown being sacked. Also in the book of Genesis, the men of Sodom attempted to do this to two of God's angels, which ended up sealing their fate as their city and Gomorrah were both destroyed by fire and brimstone. This later led to Lot's daughters raping their own father through alcohol intoxication when they believed there wasn't a man left on earth that could give them children in marriage. In the book of Judges, the men of Gibeah of the tribe of Benjamin raped a Levite man's concubine and abused her to death. When the tribe of Benjamin refused to turn over the men responsible, this resulted in a civil war between Benjamin and the other tribes of Israel, resulting in a reduction of the population of Benjamin that could only be remedied by the other tribes tacitly "allowing" their daughters to be taken at the dance at Shiloh by the surviving men of Benjamin. In the book of 2nd Samuel, King David's son Amnon forced himself upon his half-sister Tamar, which eventually resulted in his death by his half-brother Absalom. There were also times when rape was used as divine judgment against people in the Bible, particularly when foreign armies invaded other lands and even the land of Israel.

In the Left Behind series, rape became a problem during the Tribulation when there was no longer any restraint placed upon the citizens of the Global Community in regards to proper sexual conduct, accelerated to such levels that the citizens sought to arm themselves for their own protection. During the Millennial Kingdom, a member of The Other Light attempted to impregnate a female glorified through rape so that he could sire a child that would be able to live past 100 years of age. However, God caused the assailant to die in her arms and then incinerated his body.
