Left Behind Wiki

The President of the United States is a title given to the elected leader of the United States of America. The person usually serves up to two terms of four years each, with each term determined by the number of total votes received in the electoral college during an election.

In the Left Behind series, Gerald Fitzhugh was the last person to hold this particular title, before the Global Community took over as the one-world government and replaced him with a chosen subpotentate for the region called the United North American States. Incensed by his loss of power, Fitzhugh attempted to regain control of his office by staging a rebellion against the Global Community, which ended up becoming World War III and resulted in Fitzhugh's death.
