Joyce was a student at Nicolae Carpathia High School at the time it was destroyed in the Wrath Of The Lamb earthquake. Joyce was an unbeliever, and turned against Vicki Byrne and Shelly Malloy when they became believers. Joyce even accused Vicki of murdering the principal of Nicolae Carpathia High School, Laverne Jenness, simply out of hatred and spite.
Vicki later found out in book 16 that Joyce was killed by the Global Community to eliminate everyone associated with the Young Tribulation Force.
Biography[]
After the Rapture[]
Shelly told Joyce what had happened to her during the Rapture. Joyce would later tell this story to Vicki. Joyce said that everyone at school knew about Shelly's story and people do not want to talk to Shelly because they felt that Shelly does not want to talk about it.
She said that the disappearances from the Rapture were the consequence of Jesus coming back for his own people. Vicki was surprised that she actually said that. Joyce actually noticed that all the Christians disappeared, and even hypothesized that Vicki's brother, Eddie, was not taken in the Rapture because he ostensibly was not religious. Joyce said that Eddie's disappearance might actually disprove the religious hypothesis, but Vicki said that he actually was raptured, and became a believer after he went to Michigan to be roommates with Beryl Gaylor.
Despite professing belief in the Rapture, Joyce explicitly rejects Christianity because if that was God's way of doing things, then she does not want to be apart of it. Vicki replied that she planned to be included when Jesus returns again. (This is why Jesus' appearance at the end of the Tribulation is called the "Glorious Appearing" as opposed to the "Second Coming", since Jesus can be understood to have returned during the Rapture.) Joyce then left saying that Vicki should expend her efforts on trying to convert Shelly, since she would be perfect for Christianity.
She later vociferously accused Vicki of murdering Laverne Jenness, the principal of Nicolae Carpathia High School, while Laverne Jenness was taking Vicki to the authorities for distributing The Underground at school. She had that she saw Laverne Jenness' car leave with Vicki in it before the Wrath of the Lamb earthquake. Joyce also said that she met a woman who was near the bridge where Jenness' car fell into the river shortly after the Wrath of the Lamb earthquake when the bridge collapsed. That woman allegedly said that Vicki was on top of the car, trying to push Jenness back into the water. A nurse injected Joyce with a sedative to calm her down while she was hysterically making her accusations against Vicki. She was later eliminated by the Global Community (along with Commander Terrel Blancka who failed to thwart the Young Tribulation Force) due to her connection with the Young Tribulation Force. Gustaf Zuckermandel, Jr. collected her identification card after she died.
