John McCarty was the ex-husband of Linda McCarty, and the father of both Brooke and Lee McCarty.
After the divorce Brooke lived with her mother, while Lee lived with his father. After the divorce, John found religion, and Linda tried to take Lee back. John McCarty told his children that the Lord would come back for his own and that the Antichrist would force people to take a mark. He was taken in the Rapture, while his ex-wife and children were left behind. Linda would perish in the Wrath Of The Lamb earthquake, while his children would join the Global Community and take Nicolae's mark.
In order to appear credible and sympathetic, Brooke and Lee said to the Young Tribulation Force in South Carolina that their predicament was that they felt that they would betray their father if they took the mark of loyalty, but they would also betray their mother if they became believers. While they were at the plantation house of the Young Tribulation Force, Brooke and Lee had their marks concealed.
