Gheorghe Vasile was the president of Romania before Nicolae Jetty Carpathia.
In the weeks before the Rapture, Carpathia assigns Leonardo Fortunato to orchestrate Vasile to leave his post. Fortunato resorts to several threats before calling in a bomb threat at his grandchildren's school and a fire at his son's farm which ultimately cause the old president to step down, which in turn leads Nicolae to eventually become president.
It is unknown whether Vasile and his family were taken during the Rapture, or if they became believers after.
