Egypt, located on the northeast section of Africa, was one of the countries that appeared in both the Bible and in the Left Behind series. In the Bible, it was where the people of Israel had resided from the time of Jacob and the twelve patriarchs to the time of Moses, when God called down the ten plagues upon the Pharaoh to release his grip on the Israelites. It was also where Jesus Christ fled to as a two-year old with His mother Mary and His foster father Joseph when King Herod the Great was seeking to kill Him.
In the Left Behind series, Egypt was among the countries that rebelled against Nicolae Carpathia's increasing control of the one-world government system called the Global Community 18 months after the start of the Tribulation in "Tribulation Force". Due to this, it was retaliated against with bombings on its airports in World War 3, and then subject to punitive taxation. It became part of the United African States. In "Nicolae", it was where Buck Williams transported Tsion Ben-Judah to safety from Israel when he was being sought after for the murder of his own family, which he didn't commit.
It also was the first of the nations that didn't send any representatives to attend the Feast Of Tabernacles during the Millennial Kingdom in "Kingdom Come", doing so in Millennial Year 93. This was possible due to a change in law that would allow people under 100 years old to become members of Parliament.
God punished the nation by withholding rain causing aquifers to dry, as judgement upon its government. Despite the fact that "Egypt" is an English word that is not used by people who would speak Arabic or Hebrew, as the name Egypt was an insult to God because it honored the pagan god Ptah, Tsion Ben-Judah crashed a Parliament meeting on the issue and bullied the members of the government into changing the name to to Osaze, then demanded that the parliament building be demolished and replaced with a temple to God.
It is not known how Egypt was governed after this.
