Daniel is a prophetic book written by Daniel the prophet that appears in the Old Testament section of the Bible. It contains prophecy that relates to the times that the Left Behind books deal with.

In Tribulation Force, Dr. Tsion Ben-Judah used Scripture from Daniel to argue the case of how the prophesied Messiah should appear, leading up to the revelation of Jesus Christ being that Messiah. The Scripture verses in question was Daniel 9:24-26, arguing for the case that the Messiah showed up exactly 483 years (the first "69 weeks" in the "70 weeks" prophecy) after the call to rebuild Jerusalem at the time the prophecy was recorded.

Prophecies[]

  • Daniel 7:8 and 7:20-22 speak about the "little horn" of the "fourth beast" Daniel saw in his vision of the "four beasts", with the "little horn" being interpreted as a king that will depose three other kings (also represented as "horns"), that will rule for a time until the "Ancient of Days" appears. This was interpreted in the series as three of the subpotentates being destroyed by fire by Leon Fortunato in his temporary role as the acting Potentate of the Global Community during Nicolae Carpathia's funeral service.
  • Daniel 9:27 speaks about the "70th week" where "the prince that shall come" from verse 26 will confirm a covenant with many for "one week", but in the middle of that week he shall cause sacrifices and offerings to cease, and there will be an abomination that causes desolation (also mentioned elsewhere in the book). This "70th week" turns out to be the Tribulation period of the Left Behind series, and the covenant confirmed was the seven-year agreement between the Global Community and Israel regarding the licensed use of Chaim Rosenzweig's synthetic fertilizer formula.
  • Daniel 12:11-12 speaks of the "1290 days" and the "1335 days" that follow when the abomination of desolation is set up.
