Carlos is a member of Hector Rodriguez's gang. When Manny Aguilara, Vicki Byrne, and Mark Eisman arrived at their gang's hideout, Carlos inspected their car, pointed a gun at them, and told them to exit their car slowly. Manny Aguilara, a member of the gang, decided to go to the hideout as a means of eluding a Global Community patrol that had spotted them. Carlos led them to a room and told them to wait until the boss comes down there.

Manny was telling Hector his account of how he and Vicki and Mark wound up at his hideout. Hector found it incredible that anyone would risk their life to help someone like Manny, who Hector insinuated that he is murderer. Vicki said that Manny is their brother now, but she acknowledged the things that he had done and said that Manny had changed. Hector bemusingly asked what brought about this change. Manny replied by making a de re reference to Gustaf Zuckermandel, Sr. as the man who had chosen the blade instead of Carpathia's mark. (He had converted Manny while they were in a GC prison.) Hector dismissed him since Hector thought he was a fool for refusing to take an ostensibly innocuous tattoo. When Manny earnestly pleaded with them not to take the mark under any circumstances because it would seal one's eternal fate forever, Carlos laughed with Hector immediately joining in.

When Vicki was using a cell phone to take to the Young Tribulation Force in Wisconsin to ask about the status of Claudia Zander, a Morale Monitor that had reached out to Young Tribulation Force on the pretense to be rescued from the imposition of the mark of loyalty, Carlos yelled, demanding that Vicki stop the phone call. Manny defended Vicki, saying that she is not calling the GC. Carlos called Manny a "traitor" and told him to shut up, and Manny asked Carlos how long he would last in a GC prison without turning on his fellow gang members. Carlos replied that he knows that he would not use religion as a crutch.

Later on, the gang murdered Manny after he was given an opportunity to talk about God. Before the gang pulled out their guns to kill Manny, they took turns beating and kicking him. It is probable that he participated in Manny's murder. Hector Rodriguez swore to kill Vicki and Mark after the Young Tribulation Force helped Anita Aguilara escape the gang immediate after Manny murder. Carlos does not seem to have any respect or consideration for Christianity and probably shared Hector's contempt and odium for Manny and the Young Tribulation Force.

It is unknown what had happened to Carlos. Maybe he thought about what Manny had to say about God and redemption and became a believer, or he was captured by the authorities and took mark of loyalty against Manny's pleading, or that he died under one of the Bowl Judgments or in the sheep and goats judgment as an undecided unbeliever.
